I refer to barns in this one's condition as " transitional " barns. I see quite a few like this one throughout the Smoky Mts. and the Appalachians. They've seen far better days but there is still a lot of usefulness in it. Barns like this will continue to be used until it has to be abandoned or torn down. While their activity has slowed a lot lately, old barn-wood scavengers are still out there looking for good wood.
Wood Scavengers are the reason I haven't stopped to take photos of a lot old barns in my area, I don't want to get shot!!!
