I'm going through a sentimental period for animals I've loved and lost, so I thought sharing their images would be a good way to honor them. This is Adrienne, my third and last Borzoi and the only one who did not die prematurely. Though she was diagnosed with bladder cancer in her last six months, she still lived to be 12 1/4, something of a miracle for a " giant" breed (I never considered them giants). I was recently stunned to realize she's been gone for nearly eight years.
She could be a bit of a princess but she was a sweet and loving soul, and pretty tough too. An awful injury left her lame in one front leg at only a year and a half so her galloping days were cut short, but she could still run for short distances and was a competent hiker. I was fortunate to have her in my life for as long as I did.
I hope you enjoy seeing Adrienne as a cute puppy, a stately adult, and a thoughtful old lady.

Sometimes it seems to go fast, but my life with Adrienne seems so long ago. I got her in 2003; she was a New Year's baby. I like #5 too, even though I believe that was a look of utter boredom. Whatever, it worked!

Yeah, I can relate. I got choked up just putting that post together. At times I can still feel her fur between my fingers, the silkiness of her head...animals enrich our lives like nothing else.

I took have loved many dogs (and cats) and know that I am a better person because of them.
SW, Adrienne was a beautiful soul. Those of us who love animals carry a sense of "anticipatory grief" when they are with us because we know we live outlive our children.

That's true, and maybe that's why I haven't had a dog for over 3 1/2 years. I'm glad you like Adrienne.

It is difficult to work our way through the loss of an animal, but our grief of their loss will turn to memories of the good times spent with them. I have never had a dog nor a cat that I would say of them; "I wish that I had never had them because I wouldn't have had to go through the pain of losing them" Still it can bring a twinge when I look through albums of images of the friends I have once known but are now passed.

Adrienne had a sweet face. If you're referring to the one I'm thinking of, she was feeling VERY sorry for herself that day. I don't remember why and maybe I never knew. She could be a diva. Thanks for looking.
I occasionally see a lady walking her Borzoi who is a rescue and a little shy but so sweet. I'm in awe of their graceful stride as the Borzoi runs. It is so nice to treasure those memories from puppyhood to sugar face senior. You have a very nice collection of memories to reminisce your sweet Adrienne.
