Mrs. Northern Cardinal On Shepard's Hook

I love the bokeh my Sigma 150-600mm DG lens gives while using my Nikon D810. This was shot at 1/2000" f/11.0 ISO 8000. The cardinal was about 7.5 meters away so the resulting DOF was about 6cm . While not as soft as 2.8 fast glass, the background brambles yield just enough detail to make it interesting. The high ISO noise, which was not much, was easily handled by On1RAW 2024.

I like it. Why F11? I don't think you needed that much depth of field.

I agree with Ken that you didn't need so much DoF.

The Cardinal looks great!!!

At that distance with a 600mm lens and a full frame sensor, f/11 gives a DOF of about 2.3 inches or 6cm. If I drop it to f/8.0, it's less than 2 inches. I like the little extra cushion. When I step the distance out, I drop the aperture.
