I only just became aware of the Smartphone section on this forum, so here is my first contribution to it. I visited this new-to-me canyon a few weeks ago, seeking both fresh views and a spot to set up a trail camera. I found both. I generally use my phone's photos to share in texts, so I allow myself more latitude in editing than I do with my DSLR images. Although it's an older phone I like its camera for wide angle and macro. These images will probably look lousy in download but I checked the box anyway to avoid being fussed at (for that, anyway). I hope you like this canyon.
Beautiful captures...that is a nice rock dam!

Yes it's a great dam, very picturesque. Maybe that's where they trapped the bulls. Thanks for looking.
Looks like a nice place to spend some time and some frames.
Beautiful canyon. With water, should be a great place for a trail cam.

It truly is. It's not quick or easy for me to get to which adds to the appeal but also adds an air of formidability. Placing a trail camera out there was strategic: I can't talk myself out of going back.

Thank you! If nothing else, sadly, I'll get cattle--yes, this is considered grazing territory. I find the scenery stunning.
Welcome to the Smartphone Photography section. We’re getting more and more interest in this photography genre. Don’t apologize for your phone. It took some wonderful images. You have a good eye. Thanks for posting and sharing. Lots of good stuff here.
I second Greg welcome to the section and look forward to seeing a lot more posts. These were fantastic great interesting spot and photos were spot on. You did a great job.

Thank you! I actually love my phone's camera and find that my approach to photography using it is way different than when I use my DSLR. None of my equipment is top of the line but that's not a problem. I look forward to seeing more in this section.

Because I know you approve of my trail camera hobby (obsession) I am including this photo for you. It's the view from the trail cam, made simply by holding my phone over the front of it and snapping a photo; I learned long ago this was a fairly accurate way to see what will be in the frame (it can be difficult to tell from looking at the image on the camera, which is tiny). Stay tuned for hopefully stunning results.

Thank you. It's nice to receive such a generous welcome. I will be heading back to that general area tomorrow with phone, camera, and another trail camera, so I should have more to share from that gorgeous section of my world.
Really, really shows that it is the photographer more than the equipment. You have a great eye. Can I ask how you processed these. Please don't tell me that they are straight out of the phone or I may have a breakdown!.Stay safe. Ray

Thanks for looking. I hope my reply doesn't cause a breakdown but I just use the editing program that came with the phone, and I have no idea what that is. But I do always edit my photos. Since I mostly share them in texts I like to do whatever it takes to make them stand out, which always includes increasing the contrast and messing with the white and black points, shadows, etc. I usually hit the Pop feature, whatever that is, and add a slight vignette. I believe my eye for composition has been trained by the landscapes in which I wander.
