On Wednesday we had quite a storm here in Maine. In fact we experienced the third highest recorded high tide on record (interestingly we beat that record today with the highest recorded high tide). Lots of destruction to land, property and infrastructure. Here are some shots of the water crashing near the Nubble Lighthouse. I took some photos today but none are worth looking at. Here are a few from Wednesday. Enjoy.

Really nice! You have just the right shutter speed to make water kook like water, not shaving foam. Good work.

Thank you all for the positive comments. As I said in my introduction I went out earlier today to photograph even bigger waves, but the dull gray sky, the amount of tourists and traffic milling about the lighthouse area, and the strong wind did not make for a successful experience. I was still able to see and hear the power of the waves even though I wasn’t able to photograph anything worthwhile. I’m happy I was able to at least do that.

It does from time to time. However, today’s storm is historic resulting in destruction from southern Maine all along to the mid-coast. To make matters worse it comes on the heals of Wednesday’s severe storm (the photos are from that storm, not today’s) from which many haven’t yet recovered. We will get it together, we always do.

Thanks Don. Given the wind (40+MPH) and the astronomically high surf, I’m glad Mother Nature didn’t capture me.
