We surfaced at the North Pole and it was around -21 deg we even played baseball at the Pole till a couple of polar bears appeared, then time to go in. It was a warm few days there

Always amazed at the vast variety of experiences our collective "hogs" have experienced. how many in this world can actually say they surfaced at the North Pole, and played baseball there, no less!?
Thank you for your service, and for sharing!

Just glad the wind quit blowing! Snow drifts on my porch and driveway were about 2 to 3 ft yesterday.

Reminds me of 1962, Korea, walking around our shop and motor pool, all night taking 2 hour turns with 2 other guys in -18 degree weather. When the wind was blowing it was unbearable, and my Remington was frozen I think.

Another day or two of this crap and we will be back to normal cold temps! We are fine, have wood stove burning in basement, filled large water cantainers in case power goes out (we are on a well system with a pump), vehicles plugged in and staying warm as well in case we need to go anywhere....just chillin and watching the tube!

Why all the beefing Cindy? By Friday it will be a balmy 27 degrees
BTW ...what happens to the cars if the power goes out?

One crystal clear night about 20 years ago I was driving through Valley Forge National Park to go to a viewing. There were so many stars in the sky I pulled my car over to look at the sky and got out of the car. It was so cold my moustache froze immediately from the snot drip. I thought about the Revolutionary Soldiers pulling guard duty back when duck down jackets didn't exist. I thought about those guys in foxholes during the Battle of The Bulge and other winter combat situations. It must have been pure torture. So thank you AirWalter, for your service.

For me it was in 1991 Berkshires, -20F.

The coldest I’ve had to spend the day outdoors working was -14F (was dressed for it but I was still very cold by the end of the day). Didn’t help I had to lie on the snow to get at the access panel for some of the equipment. Ugh.

Tonight it’s supposed to get to -17F here. At least I’ll be indoors.
