60gbs of pictures have disappeared from my computer. Folders remain, but pictures are gone. Has anyone had this happen? If so, do you have a remedy?
Thanks, Bob

Well, at least you have secure back-up copies of everything and can easily recover.

I’ve had (Photo files) disappear after a few months when I sent them to files in my Yahoo account.
I figured that they were deleted (like in a cloud) because of storage space, yet I downloaded a file that I saved from a video that I found on UTube.

Can’t figure it out, yet! Just glad it wasn’t (real important)!

Never happened to me. No clue, but the issue of backup must be raised. Do you have them backed up anywhere? Last resort would be do you still have the cards the pictures were taken on? (Many people reuse them. I don't. I've got a box full of them with all of my pictures on them.)

One thought. If it's a Windows machine, can you use System Restore to restore the computer to a previous state? Also, have you ever backed up the files using the backup function in Windows?

Sometimes files get "deleted" accidentally but all that means is that one number or letter (usually the first one) gets changed but is still there although you can't see it. Get ahold of a competent computer specialist and see if he/she can resurrect them. They are usually there for awhile until written over by later files. So look into this right away. Now if you were a crook and erased the files and deliberately overwrote them the FBI and other such agencies can bring them up! But no such luck for you I do hope!

Bob the best thing is if you have a backup then that can serve as a safety valve if all else fails.

Seems likely you have accidentally moved them to another location. Can you remember any file names? If so search using your operation system, for those names. Hopefully you will find them.

If you accidentally deleted them all is not lost. There are tools you can use to get them back but it is important that you do not write the disk before you attempt to restore the lost photos.

Best of luck.

Go into your computer 'File Manager'.
In the search box type in *.jpg then hit search. Or if you have RAW files, type in *.RAW (or NEF or whatever the file extension would have been).

Depending how much data on your C Drive, the search could take while, just atch the progress bar.

Good luck.

Recently, the D drive on my windows 10 computer totally disappeared, containing all of my images! After a chat with Adobe, they sent me to Microsoft where one of their techs was able to locate it after a lot of searching
and restore it to my hard drive. Of course, I had to re-link the whole thing to Lightroom, but it finally was accomplished with the help of an Adobe tech. Scared me to death, since I thought they were all gone forever! I did have a back up, which helped to make the relinking easier. I will ever be grateful to those techs who saved my life!

I found this. I had no reason to try it, but maybe it can help.

Bob.This happened to me as well. I am almost certain that the photos will still be on your computer, however you will need recovery software to get them back. Contact a local computer whizz for assistance.... I had a family member who knew how to recover them. It doesn't end there though, you will need to but them back in their respective folders.
Good Luck with IT.

Before doing anything else, restart your machine. Choose the restart option on the start menu. This will reset many settings, one of which could have changed. Don't simply shut down the machine. This doesn't do that.

They had to be moved to another folder or deleted. What in, Lightroom or? If they are/were important enough, I'm sure you have a back-up copy.

If you're on a Windows machine and activated Microsoft One Drive your files may be moved from your computer and placed in Microsoft's cloud drive, but they're still there.
