That's what happens when you don't follow rules or learn to have muscle memory for your drone. As someone who flies drones, I have no sympathy for this individual. People like him make it hard on the rest of us.

In the USA, congress directed the FAA to manage drones. Congress did not give the FAA authority to manage, direct or control the commerce of drone retail sales channels. People who buy drones have no reason or motivation to find the rules, let alone follow them. The consequence is that drone use in the USA is effectively unregulated.

I am one of the few odd ones that have taken a course and passed the FAA drone operator test. To do it cost me $325. How many people are going to rush home from Costco, Best Buy or Walmart with their brand new drone and jump on doing that?

I did that exact opposite of most of those consumers did and purchased the Pilot Institutes course and passed the FAA Part 107 exam. I purchased my DJI Mavic 3 Classic after passing that exam, glad I went that route.

Me too with Pilot Institute. I just finished my two year recurrent. I'd flown manned airplanes most of my life and quit almost 10 years ago. I know the flying vocabulary but too much had changed. I needed the course.

I now have a one card that says "Commercial", "Single Engine Land and Sea", "Multi Engine Land", "Instrument" and "L-188" a type rating. The other card simply says "Remote Pilot". I don't understand why the FAA give out two cards. They look the same.

My choice for drones is smaller than yours. I got a Mini 3 Pro a month before the Mini 4 came out.

The Mini 3 Pro is a nice little drone, I often think that maybe I should have purchased one of the Mini drones because they look like they would be more enjoyable to fly. I might just get the Mini 4 Pro some day soon.

By the time my Mini 3 wears out, crashes or extends beyond Care Refresh, we could be seeing the Mini 5 or 6!
