Well, all we got here in the city was rain, with about 20 minutes of backside snowflakes. North and west of us got up to a foot. Tuesday night and Wednesday it will disappear with another nor'easter, this one all rain.
As you can tell from the first image, I live on the wild side, standing right in the middle of the road in the city of over 8 million people.

After the nor'easter passes, the winds come in from the northwest, rather than from the northeast. They bring in colder temperatures, turning the remaining rain into snow.

NYC lucked out with just rain. We got 14" of snow here in Wappingers. Like you said, come Tuesday and Wednesday it will mostly be gone as its supposed to be 52° and raining. Only problem is with all the rain we have had the past month, the ground is so saturated, there is no place for the water to go. I have "ponds" in my yard where I never had water sitting before.
