A friend said Canon disabled the astrophotography function on the SX60HS. Does anyone know of a work-around (a hack) to re-enable the astrrophotography function?
Put the camera on a tripod, point it at the night sky, release the shutter. If your friend is still unsure, point them to google with the simple query = astrophotography function on the SX60HS. Pages of responses, as both video instruction and text, appear immediately in the results.
I have 2 of them, plus a 70. Never heard of such a function. They are limited in my opinion with respect to astro as there is no way? to do long exposures. No port for a shutter control and limited options within the camera. Maybe I missed it, but I really searched guide, etc. Maybe something available in earliest or latest versions and dropped due to performance?
They also do not have the best low light performance. Fine for solar or lunar eclipses and daytime photography, but did not do well (70) as darkness fell shooting a leopard billowing out a antelope.
We got them due to the wide FL range, especially handy for plants not easily gotten to, on a cliff, etc. without the need to carry multiple lenses up hills, under fences, etc.
