Working our way West, tomorrow we head to Sedona. Obviously, Cathedral Rock is on the list…will be there 3 days…what else should I add to the list?
TIA

Pink Jeep tours takes you out to the cliff dwellings
Go to the ariport. Not only are there nice views (they charge now), there is a very good restaurant there. West Fork is nice, you can hike to the top, with time. Avoid Sedona on weekends, the Snowbirds are here, they flood Sedona on weekends - and the rest of the week. Go to Jerome, great views and the best burger in the Verde Valley. In Clarkdale there is a train that runs up a canyon. Great views, I've heard. If the weather is good (dry, mostly) there is a road that starts in Jerome, in the mine, and travels all the way to Williams, Gateway to the Grand Canyon and home to BearArizona.

Some of the recommended photographic locations that we mapped out earlier this year; not all proved accessible in April.

Go to Winslow and stand on the corner.

Laramie suggested the Pink Jeep tours and the Clarkdale train. I have done both and recommend them.

See if you can find this spot! Sedona is beautiful if you can avoid the crowds. Also check out Talequepaque Crafts Village. Beautiful artwork and jewelry. Jerome is very cool and shouldn't be missed.
Enjoy
Take the Pink Jeep ride into the canyons
As long as you stay out of town, it's all beautiful! But yes to the jeep tours and the Clarkdale train. Bell Rock isn't gorgeous, but it is a landmark. If you can get a permit and have time, hike the West Fork of Oak Creek. In town behind the Safeway (?) is Coffee Pot Rock. It's cool.

Watch for the girl in the flat-bed Ford!
Bell Rock/Courthouse Loop. Airport Mesa at sunset. Chapel of the Holy Cross. Use the Baldwin trailhead for Cathedral Rock, as the Cathedral Rock parking lot is impossibly crowded. Little Horse Trail to Chicken Point. Boynton Canyon Trail. You can hardly go wrong on any of the trails, provided that you can find a parking spot at a trailhead (which is often extremely difficult, especially on weekends). Shopping at Tlaquepaque or in downtown Cottonwood or in Jerome are also interesting. Don't forget to stop at the Visitors Center in downtown Sedona. Renting a jeep is also fun.

If you are willing to hike a bit, and are looking for scenic shots with wide variety. Do Chuckwagon Trail from the Long Canyon Road, Mescal trailhead. If not too cold or snowy, do WestFork during the week, avoid on weekends and go early. Yesterday Oak Creek Canyon Road was very icey. Drive up to the hills above Jerome. No need to take a commercial tour if you have a reasonable vehicle for gravel roads (assuming no rain or snow). Driving out to Palatki and/or Honanki will get you to not only great archaeological sites but great scenic views enroute and back. 4WD not necessary if dry weather but it will be bumpy.
We locals tend to avoid the airport mesa but the restaurant is good. If willing to do a relatively short steep hike, go up Doe Mt enroute to Palatki and walk around the circumference, far better wide panoramas. Boynton Canyon and Devils Bridge are far to crowded to make the effort. Fay Canyon is short, easy and is a beautiful box canyon. Crescent Moon has good views of the west side of Cathedral and if you find the right spots, some great views of Oak Creek with Cathedral in the back. Drive the whole Red Rock Loop road. A lot of new houses blocking some of the views but still a lot of nice areas. The views from the Chapel off SR179 are wonderful (and free).
Traffic slowing down a bit with the holidays ending but still very crowded. Most of us locals hunkering down and not going out on the weekends when town is still a zoo.

Cottonwood and Jerome are fun - especially Jerome. Originally a mining town, it became a hippie haven in the sixties, and many of them are still there, giving the place a sort of counter-culture vibe. Cottonwood has vineyards and, downtown, numerous wine tasting venues.
