Fairchild Gardens.
I visited yesterday but it was a frustrating visit. I did not find the landscapes vistas I wanted and in addition I made some mistakes, not uncommon when photographic techniques are not followed. I looked more like a rookie than like an old photographer with so many years of experience. I hope I learned the lesson and will do better next time.
I converted some images to b&w. Very disappointed in those images also because for reasons still not clear to me I did better when I was using film than when I convert through digital. I know there is something wrong but I have not been able to identify the reasons. Perhaps someone here will help.
I will post some images although I am not entirely happy with them. I guess everybody has a bad day. I used an Olympus OM-10 Mk III with the Zuiko 12-24 f2.8 Pro. The b&w image with the Zuiko 75-300. I took a tripod with me and I did not use it. Very dumb indeed.
No.1- Many flowers like these in the garden.
No.2- Bamboo in the wind.
No.3- A partial vista of one of the lakes.
No.4- One of the conversions.

What exactly don't you like about them? And when you shot film, you didn't use B&W film? I think they are nice photos. Maybe could use a little more contrast/punch in the B&W.
I like your results of a bad day!
Looks like a pretty good day to me. I love Fairchild gardens.
Sometimes when we feel frustrated and not seeing what we think we want we end up with very nice things we didn’t know we wanted. It makes you think of different shots and artistic ones like the bamboo. I enjoyed these!!
I like all of these. Maybe they weren't what you were trying to get, but what you got is really nice.
I agree with all of the above. Excellent!
If you're not delighted with the first pic, there might be something wrong with you.
Just saying.
I enjoyed the set, William. You are a severe critic (LOL).

I wish you were in my shoes. Believe me when I said I made many mistakes. I tried more contrast, which I love with b&w and it blocked the shadow areas so I had to add only what I thought was adequate for the image. These are most probably the best images I made.
I was born a perfectionist and I put a lot of pride in my finish work but I can perfectly understand my mistakes and to be honest, I have learned a lot from them.
Thank you for stopping by and for your nice comments.
Very nice set. Well done!

I thank you for your comments on these images. Perhaps I am too critical of myself, part of being a perfectionist. Some of the mistakes I made were the result of my poor attention to details. I always check the controls of my camera before I begin to shoot but this day I did not do it till it was late. I went to the Everglades today and again I started with the wrong settings. When I realized my mistake it was already late. I was looking at the images in the monitor but I ignored the settings as if I were a rookie. I must be getting too old.
Anyway I am ready to start all over again and I made a list of what I have to check which is going to be reviewed when I use the camera in my next outing. Live and learn.

You are very kind and I appreciate your comments. I was very frustrated with this visit to Fairchild and I promised myself to go back and start all over again. Who knows, maybe I will learn a thing or two of them.
