Not rememberable Movie Quotes but quotes you find interesting, also your creations

We had some good Movie Quotes but some people wanted to interject quotes not in Movies. Those can be interesting as well. Also, some of you may have come up with a quote you feel would be relevant for now and the future -- something you or your mother or father said that made an impression on you.
When I was in high school playing in the band, we had an older but very wise band conductor. His name was R. Roy Coats and taught at Humes High for 25 years. He was there when Elvis attended the school as well as when I did in the mid-60s. Two of his quotes I remember to this day: "A man's true worth is what he does when his boss's back is turned" and "The proof of the pudding is the eating thereof."
I have one quote that I coined and hope it could live on beyond my short stay on this blue/green marble, and maybe prompt some person along the way to reassess a position.
"Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem"
