I purchased new gear in August (a birthday present for me) and had no issues. Everything shipped when promised and arrived with a required signature. I would look on their website for the item. I suspect it is available there also.

I have bought a lot of gear from Adorama. Very trustworthy, never had a problem. I also use them for printing.

So I am looking at an item on Amazon. It states the seller is Adorama. I have never purchased anything from Adorama. Free shipping and free returns via Amazon is a benefit. Would anyone share their experience please. I did a search on Adorama but the posts were old. Thanks.

Positive experience with them on ebay.

Amazon, B+H, and Adorama were my choices for a long time.

I dropped Adorama after the low balled me on a lens I was selling. I got it back and sold it to KEH for $1,000 more.
I also had Adorama replace a damaged light box, but they wouldn't pay the return postage. On the plus side, Adorama once sent me 20 extra slide processing envelopes. I called them planning to send them back. I was told to keep them and use them in good health.

I used B&H for years and would continue to use them if they would stop using FedEx. I know FedEx is a good company, but they seem to have a problem hiring good drivers around here. If B&H would go back to using UPS I would be buying from them. Most packages got to me next day.

That leaves Amazon whose delivery service keeps getting better. But, they don't compete well with B&H when it comes to getting on the phone and discussing a problem or a product with a knowledgeable person. Plus, back when I bought my Nikon 800mm from Amazon I got an $800 rebate through my Amazon CC.

There is no perfect solution, but most people do try.

I did order the item from B&H and expect delivery this week. I had forgotten about B&H using FedEx. My experience with FedEx has not been good.
Just hoping it arrives undamaged and on time. Why such a reputable company like B&H would use FedEx is a mystery. Sounds like Amazon will be my go to from here on in.

I’ve purchased from them several times and never had any issues. Adorama and B&H are my go-to businesses for my photography and computer purchases.

If you wish you can go directly to Adorama and purchase the same item from their web site instead of going through Amazon if you wish.
Adorama and B&H are very similar. Both offer great customer service, free shipping on most items and free returns provided you follow their individual guidelines.
I have done business with both and have been very happy.

Adorama is great whether you deal with them directly or via Amazon. Many retailers use Amazon to cast a bigger net to increase their visibility and searchability. I'm sure they would rather you go directly to them, since they are paying a "vig" to Amazon for the privilege of listing on their site. Probably the only reason for me to go to Amazon vs direct would be if I had a gift card, discount code, or some other perk to sway me to Amazon. Adorama is one of the two great NYC photo/electronics dealers.

Here is my take and a watch out.
I had never had a problem with Adorama. Very trustworthy company.
Yes Amazon has the free shipping (if you have Prime or it is of certain price). If Amazon says the seller is Adorama then it is OK.
The watch out is that if you purchase equipment from Amazon and the seller is not clear you could be getting "fake" or "counterfeits" or in the case of photo equipment could be "grey market" ( someone correct me if that is not the name).
Amazon not always verify the items are the real thing.

Please accept that I am not picking on you. I'm just interested in language and usage. Why do you (and many others) start a sentence with "So?" Is it regional, age specific, or other? Is it like the "Eh" in Canada?

Unfortunately, it has in recent years become a part of the "American" English lexicon. It is a speech habit that is pretty annoying to more educated speakers of the language, just as the habitual use of the phrase, "you know" (or worse, "don't you know") became common decades ago. It's use alerts others that the speaker is now going to say or ask something. If my father were still alive, he would do all in his power to make sure I didn't start verbal thoughts or questions with the word. Typically it is more common in spoken than in written language usage.

[quote=billnikon]I've used Adorama ebay as I have a PayPal account which I use for things for photography and other stuff. Occasionally there is a PayPal sale on ebay giving 12 and 24 month financing. Could I get the same financing at Adorama or B&H sure - but how many of these do you really want - plus it gives me the flexibility for other sites.

I've purchased many Photo Items from Amazon (many other types of items too), Adorama, and B & H. New and used. All purchases successfully and I'm happy with items. Sure there were slight glitches. Since it is on Amazon, the sale is according to their practices and rules, not Adorama's. If you prefer you might see if Adorama is selling a similar item for probably a slightly higher price. I also buy on KEH and eBay. These days I avoid "Auctions" and buy "Buy Now". Note, B&H and Adorama are closed on religious holly days. Amazon is 24/7. I have also noticed that lately Adorama has low or no stock on many items, especially used. Not sure what is going on there, but again you are looking to buy from Amazon. I have bought items on both Amazon and eBay from other on line retailers. There are no issues. Happy New Year.

No worse than using Photography sites to discuss language issues.

A place for everything, and everything in its place.
