I am currently running Big Sur and would like to know if anyone has had any issues with Ventura? I want to upgrade Lightroom classic to the latest version but I need to upgrade my operating system but I'm always skeptical about upgrading when everything is running well. You know the old saying, "if it ain't broke". Any help\advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

No issues (2022 MacBook Air, M2, 24GB), but really no benefits, either. Apple's efforts these days seem geared toward making it more difficult to install new apps (security) and so I'm always having to "allow" things to run on it. I also find the new "notch" useless and irritating (fortunately, there is a freeware app called TopNotch that returns the UI to the way it was, but -- you guessed it -- it has to be installed).

Upgrading seems to be necessity these days, as more and more apps are being written to be "macOS 14-only" so in order to remain productive, we have to go along with the bosses.

ETA: One of Apple's core directions is to "unify" the macOS and iOS operating systems. That is why I now can update iOS apps through the app store, although most of them do not (yet) run on the Mac. But that's the future, according to Apple.

I not only ran Ventura with no issues, I am now running the latest version of Sonoma with no issues as well. I use both a older MBP (Intel Chip) as well as a Mac Studio Ultra. I believe in keeping current whenever possible. Best of luck.

macOS Sonoma 14.2.1 (23C71) is the current version. I'm running it on a 2020 M1 MacBook Air with Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. NO problems.

I do have some text formatting issues in Safari with this website (UHH), and ONLY this website.

Stick with Big Sur. Ventura has been one big pain in the are for me. Even after a number of fixes have been published, it's still not right.

Well, I usually don't update but that was the only way to get the latest Lightroom updates. So far no issues other than things seem to be running a bit slower in Lightroom. I'm seriously thinking about going with a mini 2 pro but I need to do some more research. I'm not the most computer literate so I will be at the mercy of the Apple store geeks.

Ventura was the version that was offered to me but I will try to locate Somoma. I just installed Sonoma on my laptop but my desktop is an older system.

I recently went from Big Sur on an iMac late 2014 (Intel chip) to Sonoma 14.1.2 on an iMac M3 with 24 GB memory and 2 TB internal storage. No problem. I run LRC 13.1 with Camera Raw 16.1 and Photoshop 25.3.1.
