Some very unusual (to us in the USA, anyway) and beautiful cars in this post. That 1935 Supercharged MG is a real beast!

They are not really alike MG vs Triumph vs Healy vs Jaguar. All very different

Thorny Devil gave me permission to post this picture of a '35 Jaguar. Compare it to a MG TC or earlier. Sweeping front fenders into a running board. Blocky front grill. Headlight shape and mounting. Austin Healy started sports car production in 1952. I found a picture of a 1936 Triumph Gloria Southern Cross 10.8 HP that also has the same lines as the Jag and MG.

Beautiful set Thorney. I'm always amazed how similar the earlier British two seat roadsters are. It seems to me that you have to be an expert in identification or see the Badge.

Thank you for your comments Curmudgeon. Yes I have noticed the similarities in body styles and even the grills of some particularly from the 1930s - 1950s. Compare My photos of the 1938-39 WA MG, 1938-48 SS Jaguar and 1934 Bentley.

I love the body style from that era. Thanks Curmudgeon.

This is a great post...lots of interesting cars. I'd take that Aston Martin in a heartbeat. Nice comparative on the grills.

Depends on which years / models you are comparing. Check out the 1933-1938 Triumph Gloria and particularly the Triumph Gloria Southern Cross (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triumph_Gloria) and the WA, SA and VA MGs of the same period. By the time the Austin Healeys came out in 1953, body styles had changed.

Thank you for the feedback Streetrodder. Not only is the supercharged MG a beast, it sounds good too - whining supercharger, 6 cylinder engine and pre-select gearbox. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlX9WpZFM6g).
