There's a good question on the main photo section right now. "Can I use Nikon D500 lenses on a Nikon Z8?" There have been over 40 responses and over 1000 views. Hopefully the question was answered in the first FIVE answers, but it certainly could have been answered by pulling up the specs to each camera on the Nikon site. But, obviously, the question received answers. Going back to 2011, the main photo section was open to all questions, no matter how simple.
The one skill I'm most thankful for learning in school was how to be resourceful and do diligent research. That used to be in a library. Now, the Internet is my library.
Yes, every manufacturer worthy of support will have a web site with a Downloads or Support section where they keep manuals and other pertinent information.
Unfortunately, you do have to learn J-English (Japanese rather poorly translated to English) to understand some of it.
When I wrote my company's special bulletins for our independent reseller customers, we did a survey to find out who our readers were, and weren't, among our sales force.
We put a statement on Page One of our newsletter one month in the early 1980s that said, "Call 704-845-xxxx and ask for [sales secretary]. Tell her you read this, and you want your ten dollar bill." We did this a couple of times with similar results.
We learned that about 22% of people we sent information to would read it, call her, and have her send them ten bucks! MOST of those independent reps were in the top 20 highest dollar volume sales category. They didn’t NEED the ten bucks, but they asked for it!
When I was ten, my late uncle, a pharmacist who interested me in photography at age five, told me, "Successful people READ. If you want to learn photography, read everything you can find about it."
I learned in college that the top 1% of performers read everything in their fields they can get their hands on. They devour the latest information and put it to good use.
There is very little you cannot learn to do if you read and watch before trying.
