You know these Clydesdale horses are big from seeing them on TV, etc. When you're standing 10 feet away from one, they are darn near frightening. I caught this scene at Daytona's infamous " Bike Week "

That fellow in the first shot walking along with the horses and carrying something blue in his hand...those are pooper bags in case they are needed. I'm surprised that he's not pushing a wheelbarrow, considering the number and size of these horses.

That pooper guy also gives a sense of scale. I've seen them and, if they weren't so gentle they would almost be scary.

Hi, Mel.

I hope you and your wife enjoy the rest of the holidays. Be careful if you get out and around.

Great fun set Tom. You're right about Clydesdales being so huge they can be frightening. Draft horses are cold-blooded in that they are known for great strength and calm dispositions. Budweiser selects their horses to be all about the same size, 18 hands and 2000 lbs. so the team looks uniform. But Clydesdales can be over 20 hands (6'8" at the shoulder) and close to 3000 lbs. How'd you like to stand next to one of those guys. Fun set, thanks for sharing.

Have a Happy New Year and spend it taking more great photos of the things that interest you because they also interest all of us.

A last thought. Most parades with horses have "pooper scoopers" that are a lot more obvious than Budweiser's guy. He's supposed to be invisible.

AB in St. Louis was one of my clients and we did ever so many projects over the years for them. One that I will always remember is the air conditioning and ventilation of the Clydesdale Stable, which dates back to the turn of the century. The Clydesdales and the old stable are one of the main attractions of the brewery.

It was quite challenging because we had to work within the confines of the historical structure and not spoil it with any visible modern ductwork and equipment. By the way, the Clydesdales are treated like royalty, which they are. We also did work at the breeding stables which are located at Ulysses S. Grant's Farm.
