Cameras On A Shelf

My wife surprised me with a new old lens for Christmas. It was not a nice day out, so I had to find something inside to shoot with the new plaything. (I won't call it a toy; but I do play with my cameras). This is just a shot of a shelf that I have some cameras on. I converted to black and white and played with the filter selection in PS until I got a fun result. Then in LR, I tweaked the contrast and tones. I also used the mask to minimize the boring shelf and this is the result. Looks best in download because the edges of the frame are accentuated. (forgot to put a stroke around the photo.)

Indeed, you did warn me! The compositing bug has not really taken hold yet; but I'm surprised how much fun it is to explore the various filters in PS. I think it helps to have a good idea of what you want the final image to look like. I like negative images and filters that accentuate edges. Maybe this is because I shoot film and spend a lot of time viewing negatives. Main thing is that I'm having fun and people do seem to enjoy what I come up with. Thanks for your time.

If indeed we lived in a world of outline we would recognize friends and objects not cluttered by color. The grain and mild sepia add a dash of flavor. Minolta is a ghost of once greatness as is Kodak. The Minolta fragments were the start of Sony. I have a Sony A-65 and an array of Minolta lenses that work flawlessly automated with the Sony.

The effect works really well with your subjects: sharply defined edges, pleasing designs of recognizable subjects. Like this a lot, Erich. Carry on with your playful explorations in 2024!

Perhaps you can pitch the idea to any of the camera manufacturers. For one of their ad campaigns.

Sorry for the oversight! The lens is a Nikkor 35mm F/2 AI. A few months back, GAS got the best of me and I realized that my life would sad and empty if I did not have all the F/2 Nikkor manual focus lenses. I had an old 50mm that I inherited from my father, so I bought the 24mm and the 85mm. It was time for the 35mm next . (The 28mm will be last because I have a really good copy of the 28mm f/2.8). I used that 35mm lens in New York yesterday and I really like it. I have not processed all the photos from yesterday, but here is an example shot with the new 35mm. New to me, of course, the lens is from the early 80's.
