Just bought the lens, need case
If you order an apecase, be very careful as they will charge you for things you did not order, such as $600 for shipping for a $50 item.

Did something happen when you ordered from them? Maybe you can tell us about it before maligning them? When I ordered it shipping was free. Not sure about now.
Not trying to malign anyone, just reporting that facts. Free shipping was offered on the site and when I hit the button or order, presto, a charge for $618.28 for Fedex overnight shipping was added on. First, I did not request it. Second, for a light-weight, $50 order, even Fedex won't charge that much. Lastly, the charge immediately showed up on my credit card bill which has been challenged. I've contacted the Apecase site and Nazarro, the parent company, explaining the situation, but, of course, it's the weekend and won't get to talk with them until Tuesday. I'll let this site know how they handle it. If they're honorable, that will be indicated here. If not, our UHH members will be made aware.
As a quick follow up, I did get an email from them (on Saturday) letting me know that they'll look into it after Christmas.

Thanks for the details. That sounds horrendous. I hope after Christmas they sort it out and you let us know.
PS. Nothing like that happened when I ordered. Ape cases can also be bought at many other retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Adorama, etc. They are "good" cases, not the best but also don't cost as much as the "top" ones.
Thanks, Ricardo, I'll get back to everyone.

It is a "good" sign that you actually got a response from a real person? These days one is often sent from one pre-recorded message to an "artificial" machine that doesn't understand you. I am often amazed how bad sites can be in terms of ordering stuff. One would think that by now this would be standard.
I use a Lowepro case for my 200 to 500 the size is 13 X 32 cm. The lens fits great and is well protected. It has a belt loop and a shoulder strap.

Looks good and gets great reviews on Amazon. However there is a note on the Amazon site saying it is frequently returned? Weird?

Getting only a dustbag with the lens was my one disappointment when I bought it. I did find a Tamrac 'flip top' dual zipper case which fits perfectly. I no longer have details for the case, but I remember that it was for a 400mm zoom.
You may need to do a little measuring and research to find something that will work properly and is presently available.
All has worked out well with ApeCase matter mentioned above. They are issuing a $619 refund for the overcharge on the shipping and are apologetic for the inconvenience. How the glitch happened is still unknown, but I feel confident that it will be repaired and life will go on. I'll do business with them again.

Glad they straightened things out. Not sure how such things can happen but glad to hear they made it right. Am sure it must have caused you a fair amount of distress.
Ricardo, you are perceptive. Over the 3-day holiday one could imagine tug of war on Tuesday but they nipped it in the bud, thankfully.
