We, my friends and I walked it both ways for all the years we were in HS. Hot, cold, humid, we walked. Our parents would not let us use the subways or muni bus line to go the mile.

My best friend and I rode a city bus to school but we walked home, just because we wanted to. Times were tough back then but it was either ride that old bus or get up earlier so we could walk both ways.

Reminds me of the blizzard of 1978 when we had to walk 5 miles each way to school and we arrived before the school busses. (Not my picture)
