I picked this from the last few weeks because of the "Wadda You Want?" look and attitude.
A bit noisy due to the strong backlight, but in this case I like the look.
At any rate, being between the birds that go further south for winter and the ones from further north or the high mountains Cooper(s?) my back and front yard bird count is way down. And we are in a spell of rain/showers for several days, so I am not putting out food except the one sheltered feeder. Wet bird seed mildews and is bad for the birds.
I may have a whole family taking turns, there is a Coopers cruising by or in the yard an awful lot for one bird.
R7, RF100-500@500,1/2000,f/7.1,ISO2500
Processing in LR classic and PS.
And I see the perceived color shift caused by the UHH Mustard has struck again, at least to my eyes. And admittedly, I am doing my bit to keep 20/20 Optometry(exams) and Costco Optometry(actual glasses) in the black financially.
OK, second version lightened etc.
Nice set. Hawks will definitely scare away the smaller birds and other prey.

Esp Coopers, their preferred prey is small birds.
very cool, and you're right about the birdseed.

One article I read long ago claimed that one type of mold that can grow on birdseed makes them "high" and then they can act real weird.* FUI (Flying Under the Influence?) I have never seen it happen.
*Like elephants in Africa that get into orchards during heat waves when a lot of fruit that has fallen and some still on the tree has fermented. If they eat enough, they get drunk. Want one of those wandering through town?
Beautiful bird nicely shot
Great photo! At least I think it's a single photo posted twice, pre and post. I like the darker one better! Coopers hawks are very cool, very efficient predators...but they kill birds! I love birds! Especially hawks! Can't have one without the other!
