I have been using this product since the 1980s and have always opted to purchase the cd. This year it appears the cd is no longer available; download only. Additionally, to buy directly from Turbo Tax or retailers like Best Buy one must open an account. I am up to my ears in accounts. And each one creates spam. Anyone here miffed by this chance?

I use it but I didn't know that. Aggravating.

Yup! I hate subscriptions for most software, save Norton, Carbonite, and another one or two.
We just bought the 2023 Turbo Tax CD at Costco. That's not quite a subscription per se though.
Turbo Tax uses my old account set years ago. Not a new "account" each year.
None of my photo editors are subscription.

I misplaced my Quicken 2007 CD.... couldn't install it on a new computer.
I found someone in Washington state selling a 2007 CD.
Bought it from them for less than a year's "subscription".
Happy camper again! It totally meets my needs.
(I now have the CD files stored in multiple places.....)

I think my oldest <very> active software is WS-FTP'95.
I have that stored in multiple places also.

I bought my copy of TurboTax at Staples as usual. A real disc not a download.

Switched to H&R Block about 10 years go, found errors on the Turbo returns, download each year, I don't seem to get any spam from them.

Same here, when Turbo Tax took investments out of the TT version I was using and raised the price, I switched to H&R Block and have never looked back. The interview process took a little getting used to, but wasn’t difficult. And it’s less than $40 for fed and state and accepts my financial info from its custodian.

I got the CD along with a download this year as always. I use a Mac is it possible they discontinued the CD for windows users? Wouldn't make sense to me just a thought.

Nope, I just recently purchased a CD at Costco - loads on Windows or Mac.

I have a fairly simple tax return, and have used "FreeTaxUSA" for a number of years. It really works great for me.

I got professional tax help some years back but came to a different conclusion than you did. Getting pro help was not cheap and I still had to assemble and organize all the paperwork to give to the tax preparer. I decided it wasn't worth it for me. I guess it all depends on the complexity of your tax return.

Definitely.
Ours is very simple.
Turbo Tax works well for us. I have these forms, these numbers are on them.

Me, too, about 1988.

The CPA was tax deductible. The CPA knows a lot more about the details of the tax stuff than I did so I expect I could easily miss things trying to do it with canned software. The tax information gets assembled daily with the farm stand reciept paperwork and the checkbook.

My CPA retired and sold the business. The price went up and the quality went down. The new guy wasn't used to farm accounts. Had to get an extension and my taxes weren't done until September. I switched to my wife's CPA who does an excellent job for less than the first one. And we got a refund when re-filing that year.

I have been using TT for several years. Started downloading it a few years ago. Last year, they told me my MacBook Pro was too old😊. Mentioned that to my wife, she said go get a new computer!!😳. I was out the door.
