Hi, friends

I am looking for a good Point and Shoot digital camera with minimum requirements of 12Mp, 15 optical zoom and solid 1080p video shooting. I dont care for too much bells and whistles. Can anyone suggest a model from a good brand?

Thanks

I have an older Fujifilm Finepix S700. It is 10 megapixel with 10-1 zoom. I believe later versions of this camera will probably fit your needs. I remember looking at a Fuji that had 15 megapixel resolution

If you want 15X zoom you may need to buy a used camera on e-bay as the cameras I saw have a minimum of 18x and seem to favor 20-30x

Hello,
Give the Canon SX230 a look has all the things you are looking for..very very good unit just picked up one myself week ago.
All the reviews you can read up on are pretty much on the money. Pretty much impressed with it myself.

Kodak Z980- 12MP, 25X optical zoom, highly rated lens, hot shoe, image stabilization. I just bought one to upgrade from my ZX7590 which has served me well for 5 years.

Do you want compact or larger body? If I wanted to slip something into my purse or pocket I'd consider the Nikon s9100, 12.1 mp, 18X zoom, 1080p HD movie, ~$300. I played with one at Target and wished I "needed" one! Canon has a similar one but I can't recall the model #. Drat, I hate "senior moments" that last a week!! Hope this helps. Happy shopping.

The Panasonic Lumix dmc zs10 is fantastic! I have recommended this camera to several friends that know little or nothing about photography and all come back with rave reviews. This camera has a Leica lens and rivals many for the low end DSLR kit lenses.

Look at the Canon line:SD series, i own a 1200. canon is great at phone tech support. that alone makes canon a great deal.

Now that you have the SX230 for a few months, do you still like it? I am thinking of purchasing one.
Other than the flash always popping up is there any other negatives to the camera?

There should be a flash setting to turn it off altogether, including the pop-up, like my Z980.

I have the same camera and it is a GREAT cam. I would also imagine a newer version would be just as good or better.

I see it online as low as $228-$279.
I don't really have a budget. I could go higher than the current selling price.
Do you have a suggeston? I do want a decent amount of zoom. I was also considering the Kokak Z990 for its zoom and the Nikon P500 & the Canon sx40.
But the reviews on the SX230 is what cought my eye.
Please excuse any spelling mistake.
