Has anyone compared Steve Perry's setup e-book to John Greengo's setup guide? Trying to decide which to invest in.
Thanks!

There’s also Thom Hogan’s guide.

Thanks for that info, I'll add it to my question.

Personally, I found the free videos from Hudson Henry on YouTube provided the best and most logical settings for my Z8. He gives a great starting point, and I only felt the need to make very few changes to match my personal preferences. I found Steve Perry, whom I respect greatly to have a bit of tunnel vision in his settings and Greengo seemed a bit generic. Try Hudson Henry. Great suggestions for all of the Banks. Easy to modify to your preferences.

Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll check him out.

I second Hudson Henry. He has a 4 part series on setting up the Z9/Z8. The first one is long, as he hits every menu item, but the next one is fairly short as your base bank settings are baked in.

Thanks for the info, I will take yours and mikeroetex advise.

I have two guides--Steve Perry's and Thom Hogan's --for my Z9. I use both of them. If you use flash a lot, Thom Hogan guides have a whole section dedicated to using flash correctly. Thom Hogan has separate guides for the Z9 and Z8. Not sure about John Greengo's guides.
Since I mainly shoot nature and wildlife, I am a Steve Perry fan with several of his EBooks. He has some insights that I like, especially since he shoots Canon, Sony, and Nikon cameras side by side. He provides workarounds for shortcomings. I like that he updates his guides when new firmware releases come out, which are free download after your original purchase.
Steve Perry is excellent especially if you are interested in wildlife photography. He doesn't video and lets you know right off the bat.

I just finished watching and following the setup Hudson Henry posted ( about 5 times) and Steve Perry, both are great! I've learned a lot and look forward to using the camera in a way that I would never have imaged without those videos!
Cheers and Happy New Year!

You could go for the complete "bible" for your camera, and leapfrog over the concept of just a limited "setup" guide.
Photo below is of a page in the Darrell Young guide for my camera (not Z8) and as you can see, initial setup recommendation is included for each feature as its discussed ... AF target options in this instance.

Notice the line: "Full camera setup explored"

I will definitely look into it.
Thanks.

I invested in both, although I haven't gone through both of them yet. For the price, I think each is a good investment.
