Having problems with the focus points. Using single point focus and keeping people in same plane one will be clear the other will be slightly out of focus. If only one person no problems with focus but add one person and end up having the person with the focus point on clear and the other not just there. I have would like to know would it be better to use the zone focus points or am I doing something else wrong. Have included pic that can be downloaded

I was using the download and looking at the eyebrows of each person. Looks good. Depending on DOF will determine the rest of the shot while the eyes are in focus.

You say they are on the same plane, but if one is in focus and one is not, then they are not on the same plane.

In this case, they look fine. Aperture is f8 and that would be a very safe aperture for two people anywhere near close.

I sure don't see a problem.

Sarge the eyes of the girl on the left are just not as tack Sharp as the one on the right. The one on the right is what the focus point was on and they are on the same plane, they both should be tack Sharp right or am I just being to picky---lol

Well, to be picky you have to insure that the distance to the eyes on both ladies are exactly the same. Just a tad off at distance along with focus and DOF changes stuff.

Yes - you are being too picky.

Thanks Sarge and Captain for taking the time to look. I may need to check and see if I have a problem with the screen on the pc because the one on the left is out of focus by my screen. I was thinking with a f/8 even if she was a couple inches off she should be sharp like her mom on the right.

From what I see it looks like I was using a 2.8 and she was just a tad to far back from her mom.

Thanks again

You were 1/126 at f8. I think it is fine.

Try a little selective sharpening on eyes etc. on the girl on the left. This is why we post process images.
