Thanks to all who helped me. I learn so much from this site, esp. Dirtfarmer, Jack, CGH_CANON, and anyone who I forgot. I d/l Recuva and all my photos are back. At least I have learned how not mess things up next time.

It was easy to get them back with Recova, but also very easy to lose them in the first place. I followed everyone advice to retrieve, someone mentioned this program (Recova) on the site so I did a d/l, plugged in the memory card and missing photos were found, and put them where they belong. Very easy.

If it's easy to lose them in the first place, get familiar with backup systems. They will provide a place to find the things that get lost.

It's always good to be in danger of learning something new.

Download possibly? Or downloaded (it's d/l, not d/i).

Even something as simple as two external drives which he or anyone could copy all their pictures, data, etc. to.

The software recovered every image that had not been over written and saved then in random order with a bastard file number!! it took my over 8 hours to sort them out>
