Help with Canon 24-105 IS l lens

Camera is rebel T2i, with my efs lens 18-200 my focal points light up and can select in all modes, however my new Canon 24-105mm lens only shows the focus red dots in Auto Mode and are not visible in aperature or Shutter speed mode, but the lens does focus in these modes. Is this normal or have I missed something in my reading ?? any help appreciated.

Check the focus mode setting... you may have it set to AI Servo. If this is the case, change it to single shot and give it another try.

Totally awesome...problem solved...not sure how my camera got switched to AI Servo but that is where it was somehow !
