A new participant to our monthly Cruise-in brought his original owner Ford Thunderbird and brought along his pal. Although restored with new paint and some necessary new mechanical components, it remains in substantially as purchased in 1957!

A gorgeous 'Bird !

I always wanted to have one of these - only with a 427 side-oiler and side pipes like the Cobra ! 8-)

Nothing says F O R D like a 57 'Bird !

The ‘55 T-Bird was always my first choice as a kid!
(The next 5 years were just copies, and a downgraded ‘55 Bird.}

The engines needed a touch from [Shelby]!

Streetrodder, is the hood sccop functional? Is that the reason for the "lip" at the forward half of the air cleaner?

To the best of my knowledge, the hood scoop on '55-'57 Thunderbirds were functional, but being low on the hood really didn't allow them to capture much air into the engine compartment. I also seem to remember that I was once told that these early Birds came with a block-off plate to be installed for cold weather driving.
