Since I have become VERY much vision impared, almost blind in right eye, my daughter found this article. I she wants to get it for me, but I can not find anymore than the this article.

Has anyone else heard of this? Help finding info.

I searched the web:
Sony site shows: email me when available
Another Sony site said you could try one for two weeks, didn't check to see if any actually available?
No one else seems to have then, so maybe not released yet.

Since this goes directly to retina, might need approval by FDA?

There has got to be huge potential in other areas besides photography for the projection tech.

I Googled "Sony camera for vision impaired" and got a lot of hits. Since it was announce early this year that may be why people have trouble finding it. The articles are are all 8 or so months ago.

A point and shoot at $600 MSRP so I would say about a 2-3 hundred dollar camera with a $300 retina projector added on.

Looked it up, $473 on Amazon for the HX99, then add the projector, sice it comes from the factory that way the camera and projector are both priced lower than if you were/could buy them seperately.

Thanks to all of you. I'll have to call and see if any are still available. I did not find any of these articles. We have a huge camera store here in Fresno, ca. And they had not idea about it and could not find it either.

Pretty amazing product.
Tech is moving at an amazing pace and glad to see Sony addressing this for the visually impaired.
Sadly so far if one is actually blind as my late wife was this still doesn't do anything for them.
But who knows that might be fixed like the cochlear implant has given hearing to the truly deaf.

Yes it is, an amazing product. Since I am now legal blind, so my local eye Dr says, this may work for me, I'll see. I know there are others here that it might fit.

Yes, I was approved for a two week loaner to see it will will work for me. Now just have to wait for one to become available.
