I adore #1. The curtains are so unexpected and interesting - like we've just witnessed a big reveal! Nothing humbug about this intriguing, unique work.
Not hardly, I prefer the first one
Related to the second photo, the curtains say show. The colored geometric figures triggered a memory. When I was a child, there was a traveling science roadshow. One of the visually impressive things was a melted layer in a slide, as it cooled the crystals formed... they perhaps had cross-polarization that gave color. Watching the formation of crystals and their colors was so very fascinating to me.
Thank you for stimulating that pleasant memory.
I like both, with #2 just taking the prize. I think your processing matches the subject nicely.
If these are humbug, I’m a fan!

Your creative juices are flowing, Larry!
Enjoyed both. Very creative idea.

....It's abstract....
Realizing that it is an abstract, I still like the first image because it is more recognizable than the second. Hope that makes sense.

Both are nice but #1 wins the show for me. It was fun going around the image and seeing the different elements. Looks like there is a bird, and person in the tree. The foreground looks like it could be a Christmas scene with people in it. Maybe I'm just seeing things that aren't there after my second cup of coffee rush. LOL.
