If you see them on your camera screen or viewfinder, they are to help you compose the picture you are going to take.
If you see them during post processing on your computer, they are to help you again with cropping so you get a balanced result.
They can be turned off in your camera and also in your pp app.

Why on earth not? I've never used them. And why such vehement instructions with shouting for goodness sake?

I always leave the grid in the camera on.
Comes in handy, and is not objectionable.

Those grids hold everything together. If he disables then all his pixels will fly off toward infinity at warp speed. If they go thru bone narrow they can cause the posting of foolish questions on internet forums.

I have seen this lack of meaningful communication in many of his posts but maybe English is not his first language.
