I tried this motion blur on a couple of horses.
Someone posted this here, and I liked it.
Maybe not the best, but it is a start.

Experience can be a great teaching tool. You are on the best possible way of achieving it. These photographs are a base for you to use. You can see your own improvement as you continue. Some of history's greatest ideas began with a start. Nothing has ever happened without one. A great exercise for the motion blur is to set up a tripod along a busy roadway and learn how to capture the light-trails of automobile lights at night. Might sound dull but it can be fun and it is easy to do and to learn. Other than your gear there is NO cost!
