NCSU Women's basketball action (11/29 & 12/3)

Spent some time at NC State University's women's basketball this past week. The ladies are on a roll, up to #3 in NCAA Division 1 poll. A few shots from the games for your viewing pleasure. Interesting side note - one of Illinois State's players stands 5'4. NOT a typo. She could nail threes with hardly any effort. In fact at one point, Illinois State only had 15 points, ALL due to her hitting five threes! Sitting at the baseline, about 6' from being under the basket. Used my Z9 paired with the Tamron 35-150 f2-f2.8 in shutter priority. I shot in shutter priority at 1/1250, with ISO usually around 3200 and as wide open as the lens allowed.

You are so good at this friend, love all your photos. Keep posting. These shots show that basketball is a contact sport not what some believe. Thanks BE SAFE!!

Thank you. The one with the player falling backwards is probably more of an emotional one than a great photo. This took place right in front of me. She hit the floor very hard. Similar to slapping a hard surface with your hand, but full body contact. Very scary sound. She was sobbing while the staff came out to tend to her. She got up under her own power, but did not return to the game.
