You may have poor sense of direction but, when it comes to sunsets, you're right on target.

Very nice, both of them. A couple of steps and about a minute in time can make a large difference, but if you hadn’t taken the second one, would you still have been happy? Personally, I don’t think I would have thought of taking a ride on a road with that name… sounds as if it might have a few “kinks” in it.🤓

Thanks Jrvinson, there was a sign that said "Caution Primitive Road". I have never been known for making wise choices. I have a tendency to take the road less traveled.

Two excellent images. Love the composition of #1. The sky looks like it is extending its arms out to embrace the tree giving it more significance and character. For me, at that moment, the sky called for that placement. Well done.

I first intended to zoom in on the hills for a sunset, and was all set to find high elevation to clear the tree line. I ran out of time and stamina climbing up from the road so I swapped lenses to a 14mm and shot the first dead tree I could find. It gets pretty dark quickly in the Prescott National Forest and I had left the trail. Fortunately I had siri find my car because I have a lousy sense of direction.

I live in Tucson and have been in Arizona for 36 years. This is a magnificant image!! Well Done.

Both are beautiful sunsets. Those are the kind of subjects that lend themselves to a wide angle view assuming the operator knows how to use an extreme wide angle and you did fine.
I wonder if you used HDR shooting. It is obvious the foreground will be mostly in shadows with a shot like this. Many times, if using matrix, evaluative or ESP metering it compensates opening the shadows. I tend to use spot or center weighted metering and if the dynamic range is wide enough then I do HDR shooting, usually based on my interpretation of the first exposure.

As I said, both are excellent and beautiful shots.

Beautiful sunset images. Very, very nice! We had a spectacular sunset here in Green Valley as well. The desert was on fire last night.
