Coots are NOT ducks as many people think. They do Not have webbed feet.
If you look at a Coot's feet you will see that they have lobes on their feet that can be used to help it move in water but that fold back when the coot picks up its foot while walking on land.

I heard from a well-known nature photographer, whose name I cannot remember, that the best bird photographs, interest wise, are of one of the four "F's" - Feeding, Fornicating, Fighting and Flying.

Here are some American Coots.

Coots can be amazingly aggressive birds. Your shots are a great example
