Cormorant : takeoff, crusing and landing

Shelley Lake, Raleigh, NC. Early December.
While this species is considered 'common', I find their landing technique quite elegant. And if the sun shines 'right', the body and wings display nice coloration.

Our winters are mellower than up north, so several species nest here year-round. The bluejays are still quite active in our backyard.
