Great question.

I loved the Willie & Merle reference.

"out of kindness, I suppose" P & L I caught that as well. However, I would have referred to it as coming from Townes VanZant.

So many. A couple Canon T90s, Olympus XA, XA2, Pentax K-1000, Yashica Lynx 1.4, and more. A whole pile of point and shoot film camera that I got cheap from Ebay and etc. Many of these would no doubt bring much more than what I paid for them if I would get off my arse and sell them. But the truth and NBTH thats not likely.

So its gifting season, and some of us will also generously gift ourself as well. In many such cases the arrival of a new whizbang machine should spell adios for some seldom used relic that we havent yet kicked to the curb ... "out of kindness I suppose".

Fess up ! Whats your still functional but quite neglected old relic that has just hung around thru benign neglect or chronic procrastination.

I can fess up to six SLRs and a Pocket Zoom, some of them never having seen regular use at all and retired before their first birthday :-(

Okaaay Hawgz ! Step right up and Fess Up ! Itz good for the soul and good for the biome. Time to cleanse your soul and spill your gutz.

I finally divested myself of all my old gear over a year ago. I was a dedicated Canon shooter for over a decade. I got rid of three bodies, over a dozen lenses, two flashes, an extender, several straps, a large and heavy tripod despite its carbon fiber legs, several bags and a multitude of other assorted items.

I wanted something light and compact to meet my current shooting requirements. I now own a Nikon Z fc with a SmallRig grip, a very narrow and light weight Peak Design Leash strap, the two kit zooms designed for the Z fc/Z50, and several small MF prime lenses with native Z mounts. Everything is stored in a couple of small Think Tank Mirrorless Mover bags. I have almost no other accessories except for my compact and light weight Peak Design carbon fiber travel tripod.

While I don't use a couple of the lenses very often, I can honestly say I no longer have any equipment that goes unused or that I no longer want. I also have no urge to buy anything new. For the first time I can honestly say I'm completely happy with the gear I already own and I am not suffering from G.A.S. This has made Christmas shopping for me by my family more difficult but a lot less expensive. I now spend my time enjoying the gear I have rather than wishing for gear I don't have.

This is an interesting list. Do you have images from each of these? Are there any that stands out for you as being in a class of their own for being a pleasure to use and providing great results?

On results and pleasure to use Ill chime in for his olympus 35RC, a pocketable classic leaf shutter RF with full controls. A whole camera in anout 1/2 the usual space, which made it verrrry easy to carry a pair, each loaded with different films.

For me that has evolved into the Lumix gm5, so tiny I can easily carry a pair, seach each loaded with a different lens. Again a whole camera but in 1/2 the usual space.

Simple formula: Find a 1/2 size camera and carry two of them !

I went to Pbase cameras and looked at these two cameras. If I have it right, the Lumix was the first listing of the 2015 model year just above the 2014 models and was listed as "Panasonic Lumix DMC GM5". Was that the camera your were referring to? I like the way it renders color. There was some criticisms in the reviews about it having meager battery life. The Olympus RC 35 was under Olympus film cameras in 1970 . I think is absolutely worth taking a look at the example images of mountain climbing in the Pyrennes. They are b&w and grainy and put you right on the side of the mountain.

Yes acoarst battery life is limited. Just how much battery could they possibly stuff into such a tiny body ?
