PSA - Spam/Phishing Warning

Since many of us are closely acquainted with Social Security...
I received an email from
"no-reply@SSAHelp.G0V<aadzema@roadrunner.com>"
Titled "Your e-Statement is now available"
DO NOT GO TO THE LINK IN THE EMAIL!
• The email was sent from a server at getresponse<dot>com.
• The email FROM header is from an address at RoadRunner.
• The go to link displays as: "socialsecurity<dot>gov/reviewyourstatement" but really goes to a directory at "drive.google<dot>com".
• I also got the same email at an email address not on file with SSA.
It looks real, but ONLY GO TO SAVED KNOWN SITES!!!!!

Emails from the real SSA site always say to go to the SSA site and log in for messages, etc. They NEVER contain a link.

And thus lays the perils of Artificial Intelligence. Scammers are getting more and more sophisticated, and with their ability to spoof email addresses and phone numbers, it will surely get worse.

Good advice… we NEVER-NEVER-NEVER use links in an e-mail… even if we are ABSOUTELY CERTAIN it is a legitimate e-mail.
We have a menu type setup in our browser favorites that we go to to access a site.
… and we also got the same scam e-mail. It’s that time of year as Social Security is sending e-mails and text messages about accounts and annual increase

I got a phone call from tha SSA the other day.the guy tells me that he is calling me because they sent me a letter 2 weeks ago and I didn't respond to it that is why they were calling me.i told him SSAnever calls
and he agreed but since I didn't respond that's why they had to call me to tell me they had an extra $1,200 that I was going to receive so I needed to verify my date of birth to start with.i told him I would call them tomorrow and hung up on him.After I hung up I saw the call was from Nigeria .he calls me back so I answered .he asked if I didn't want my money.i told him to keep it and hung up but this time I blocked the number.

The only correspondence I receive from SSA has been through the USPS or response to direct communication I have initiated to the oficial website.
