I got a tip there might be some activity last night, so I got stuff ready and waited. And waited. And waited. Nothing by 01:30 am so I went to bed.
Woke up a bit after six this morning, Dec. 1st & looked out to the north & saw just a touch of red in the sky. So I started taking a few shots. Took about 35 in all, some out of focus & some just not much happening. Playing with exposure, f-stops, ISO & focus, & direction.
First two are from last night, then starting at 06:27 am the rest are about a minute apart & it was changing fast. All over by 06:37 am.
Numbers 6-8 I used Lightroom's Denoise - it works pretty good. In download you can see a big difference.

Well worth missing a bit of sleep. Very nice.
Worth the effort for sure, and really nice shots. I was prepared for the last 2 nights but was cloudy here in SE Wyoming. There was a brief window around 5:00am 12/1/23 and I'm an early riser but didn't go check missing my chance this time.

Very pretty! And love that unique color! Definitely different from the green white and pink that we saw in Coldfoot, AK.
Nice captures. It looks cold!

It's always easier to comment on the other guy's work. But #7 is the sweetspot, at least my opinion. And truth in packaging, I've never been able to catch the aurora yet. Nice job, congratulations!
