I know exactly how the guy feels. Ive owned and used, (and still own) 2 M3's, for over 50 years.
Being unable to afford a digital Leica, they are what motivated me to buy a Panasonic LX7, then a LX100 and now the LX100II.
Okay, they are no Leica, but the feel of using one and the layout of buttons and dials is reminiscent.
I'm waiting to see how the development of digital conversion kits progress for old film cameras, including the M3. Depending on price I may yet get the pleasure of shooting with my old 'mates' again.

I hope that you are able to reunite with your M3s.
i own and use a Leica 3F with the collapsable 50mm f2 and 35mm F2 Summicrons; also, not to leave out Nikon the S2 rangefinder with the 50mm F2 Nikkor.
great cameras. i have also owned and used 2 Leica Monochroms, great for location work.

I've never owned a Leica but I know they are great and many models look really cool too. That was part of my motivation for buying a Fujifilm X-100T. It has a vintage (film) Leica or Canon Rangefinder look to it!
and...that too is an excellent rangefinder.
fuji lenses are excellent. i use a fuji gx680 for some of my photos. silly camera
