While visiting a wildlife preserve near Atlantic City, my attention gravitated toward the city and not the birds. I guess I'm just not a wildlife guy. But I am trying. Anyway, I took a shot of Atlantic city because I really liked the clouds over the city. Then it dawn on me that the shot was mostly black and white anyway because I was shooting into the sun. So I decided to convert to black and white. Then make the buildings silhouettes and finally to make the whole thing abstract by using a filter in PS that accentuates the edges and darkens out what is in between the edges. That made the clouds become even more dramatic in my opinion and quite abstract. I like the image, maybe some of you will also.

The contrast between the sharply outlined city silhouette and the unraveling ball of yarn sky is simply marvelous!!
The sparkling sunlit area on the water is lagniappe
An imaginative treatment done well, Erich!

Unravelling ball of yarn is a great description of what is going on in that sky. I'm glad you enjoyed the photo. Originally, there was a lot more water; but I cropped it out because, while I like the sparkly effect, I did not want too much of it lest it overpower the rest of the image; which is what I really wanted people to focus on. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

Perhaps a pen and ink drawing more so than a photograph? That is the impression I got after viewing this image.

And yet...no pen nor any ink. Thank you for taking a look. I do agree that it stretches what most of us think of as a photograph.

I don't know if that is correct; but I am happy that you approve of the photo.
