Went out to try to shoot the international space station. But the northern sky was cloudy, yet the moon was in the clear part of the sky, so took a different shot instead.

Very nice. Iā€™m content to enjoy this and not try to achieve it with a 40-150mm and 1.4x teleconverter on my Olympus

Thank you, Craig. A 400 mm lens is good enough for a moon-only shot, but below that you would have to crop too much.

Excellent detail. I have a love hate relationship with the moon. I can't resist trying to get the cleanest image of its surface, but hate when it interferes with some deep space object or comet I want to image.

Thanks, alberio, for the 'like.' The moon is an easier target (being so well-lit) than planets or nebulae. In your case, the new (no) moon is your friend.

I tried taking pictures of Jupiter using a 560mm f/6.3 lens and your settings we shared. No luck so far (in getting any band detail). I will keep trying.

Thank you very much, Mike.

Moon (crater) photography has become simpler once the settings have been figured out after many (failed) attempts. Now I can shoot handheld using 1/1000 sec. shutter speed.

Chasing after warblers hiding behind the leaves and jumping from one branch to another every 500 milliseconds is still as hard as before, if not harder as the joints stiffen with age.

I am using the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary Lens with the following camera setting for jupiter

ISO: 1600
Aperture: f/6.3
Shutter Speed: 1/15sec

Thank you for the settings. I could not get the bands but will try again after it stops raining.

I have a 400 mm f/4.5 prime paired with a TC 1.4, so 560mm f/6.3 (used for the moonshot also).
