Lucy, the Elephant used to be a rooming house; but today she is just a tourist attraction in Margate New Jersey. The first shot is to show what the thing looks like. The second shot was done with a fisheye because I just couldn't help myself. lol

If you want something big to look bigger, photograph it up close with a fisheye lens. The subject certainly falls within the category of being an oddity.

Everytime I'm close to this town (not really that often) I try to stop and snap a few photos. This time, I was there while it was closed and there were not very many tourists around, which made it ideal. for breaking out the fisheye.

The lighting brings out the textures and shapes in #1 really well, and from this angle we can see that it is dipping its trunk into water. Like the trees as framing too. It's quite a bit more than a documentary shot.

#2 is begging to be placed in a more suitable environment Time for a composite, Erich, or - gulp - AI assist???

I was afraid someone might suggest a composite. I'll have to give that some thought. Thanks for looking.

It's good to have a subject that encourages you not to take yourself so seriously.

Yes, there was a time that it was in pretty poor shape; but, happily, someone decided it was worth saving and making some tourist money with.

I have to give you credit Erich, you find some of the most incredible subjects but I think this tops the list. Love the fisheye

The fisheye shot works for me. I like how the clouds act as a sort of vignette for this shot.
