We spent a morning on the Anhinga Trail at the Royal Palm visitor center in the Everglades National Park. Unfortunately, the water was very high, so there was not a lot of wildlife to photograph. We only saw one alligator, which was not in a photogenic position, no turtles, and few birds. Here are the photos that I did take. But it was a nice walk.

The best month to visit the Everglades National Park is February. I visit often the most Northeastern part of the park, called Shark Valley on Highway 41 West and this time of year the water levels are too high.
I have been disappointed during my last two visits the past two years because the bird population was not there. Last year, believe it or not, I did not even see a single alligator.

Incidentally, the Everglades now has a large population of boa constrictors.

Thanks. Yes, February is when the water is lowest. I go to Royal Palm because I stay in Islamorada. I think the snakes are pythons, not boas, but there could be both.
