Whew!!
The elevator does not go all the way up to the main part of the observation deck.
There's the lower deck, with the city behind those tourists.
I briefly described the man made Palm Islands in my narrative. Note that all those homes, which you can't even really see, are right on the water.
The lower deck had a glassed over hole in the floor through which one could look straight down. It could be rather dizzying for the faint hearted, which many of our fellow tourists were.
Here you can see the desert just outside the modern city. Sort of like Las Vegas.
Anther view.
And we say goodbye to Dubai.
Wonderful finale to a grand tour, Mel!
Oil money goes a long way. Great way to end your tour.

Thanks very much. Now let's go get us some oil.
I loved going through this amazing journey! Thank you both for making it possible. As good as it is in pictures, I cannot even imagine what it must be like in person.

You're right. A person cannot imagine what it's like to actually be standing under that building. But we can say exactly the same thing about the Grand Canyon, or jumping over a fence while riding on a horse.
A wonderful tour, Mel. Thank you.

That triggered a memory I haven't thought of in a while. My best horse ever would jump every shadow he saw on the ground. Happened many times when I didn't see it coming...surprise, surprise!
