Harlequin Ducks in Jamestown,RI.
They made it again this year in greater numbers than the past couple years and we caught a look yesterday. We usually get them around the Beavertail Lighthouse or off of Newport at Sachuest.
On the east coast, sometimes as far south as Md, they migrate from northeast Canada or Greenland and we were pleased to count over 70 of them. The west coast and Montana enjoy them from Alaska area.
Sightings are relatively rare and we hope to catch them returning to York, Maine this year. We have viewed them in late May and early June in LeHardy Rapids, Yellowstone National Park.

Well done, Dave!
Thank you, Mike! We're about an hour and a half from this coastal area, so it's a good change of venue.

Thank you for looking! Hope we're as lucky this spring in a Barnstable whaling cruise!

Thank you for your most generous comment! These guys look almost fake and remind us a bit of the Wood Ducks we see a few miles from home.
