I am a native NYC girl I now live in Spring Hill Florida and I do miss the White Christmas. What I do not miss is the shoveling snow off my car again and again. I miss a wood burning fireplace of my youth in the Catkills but not the sight of homeless people freezing in the sidewalks.
The winter brings many thing to photogrpah everywhere.
What will all of you do this coming winter? What will inspire you to get the camera out and shoot?
Since I moved to Texas 11 years ago I am always ready for winter. Can't wait for the summer to pass.

Now that I can understand! Will you be shooting some interesting shots?
It all depends on what sort of winter we have. Ducks and geese are definitely on the photography menu, though.
We're ready here in Ohio - both stoves and chimneys have been cleaned and the woodshed is filled with over 6 cords of seasoned wood.

I'm on the California Central Coast, I can shoot outdoors all year except when it is raining. Beach to Mountains, Seals to Wild Flowers.
I miss all the snow shots I used to get in the country in Tn. Al doesn't have but one or two light dustings a year and the melt as soon as the sun rises. Not much to shoot in town in Al.

Still bare foot here...but I made sure to have a big fireplace in the house even so.
We don't get to use it as much...but it's still great to have down in the south.

Years ago I rented a room in someone’s house in Delray Beach, the owner had a fireplace. Never used it.
We had fall the week before, winter mid-week, now its spring. But I don't think summer is coming soon.
For those who moved south years ago, you might not find winter in the north as appealing as it once was. In western MD, it has changed from cold (often lows well below zero F), and snow on ground from Xmas to end of March, to rarely getting to 0 F, and snow melting in a few days leaving a muddy mess all winter. Feb. 2021? was an exception, where shoes almost everyday in Feb. a few inches, but never melted, even 2-5" stay can really add up. The last ten yrs has really changed from the previous 20.

A 20" snow would inspire me to sit in a recliner chair and photograph my toes roasting in front of a roaring fireplace!
They are forecasting more snow in our area than in the last few years. The El Nino is supposed to bring warmer weather to the North East which means more snow. Warmer air holds more moisture which translates to more snow.
Last year we had one 4-6" snow and a few 2" snows. It has been about three years since we had a large snow, so I guess we are due!
I'm always almost ready for almost everything. Almost! 😳
