we will be about 28 miles north of Fairbanks at Borealis Basecamp. Not sure where else we will be going in particular, other than one 10-12 hour round trip to the Arctic Circle.

Hopefully, you will be traveling up the "haul road" in the daylight. It is a very beautiful, scenic road! I am attaching a few I took.

I love Ice Road Truckers, which is always thrillingly entertaining, and your beautiful shots have captured the scenery perfectly 🤍🤍🔟🤍🤍

Thanks, it is very beautiful country for sure! I shared these to inspire 'radar51' (and others) to hopefully explore more in that area. These are just the tip of the ice(berg). I wish I had gotten a rental that I could have driven there myself. There were a couple of 30ish ladies who did just that. I had tried (a little) to locate a car rental company (most don't allow their rentals to travel on the 'Haul Road', but I didn't succeed... Probably a good thing, as I might still be there taking photos, lol! I did get one to drive while around Fairbanks. The road was actually in quite good shape, contrary to popular belief (It was 'paved' with snow). The 'Arctic Circle' location has a sign that everyone gets to be photographed with, as 'proof' of being there. I didn't make my reservations for Coldfoot till the week before we traveled to Fairbanks, due to knowing conditions may preclude it being way less than ideal. When I saw that the sky was going to clear up, I then made my reservations. If you think of traveling from Anchorage in the winter, the train only goes once a week! Up to Fairbanks on Saturday, back to Anchorage on Sunday. We flew up, and road the train back. It was awesome with the skies being clear, everything covered with snow. We saw probably a dozen moose due to those conditions. We got to see Denali, again. The train stopped a few times on the way back, but not for very long each time. By flying up, we had more time to spend in Fairbanks on the front end of that part of the trip... and weather plays a little(?) factor in planning! The Brooks Range is SPECTACULAR! We took a tour to the bottom of the 'far side'. Saw fresh wolf footprints, and 5 caribou on a hill side. The roadside outhouse is well, less than desirable, but a necessary evil... I would love to go back (spring, summer, fall, and winter!). Yes, -35 is too cold for me, but...!!! We were there in January/February, 2017 and and in late spring /early summer 2014. And no, it is NOT completely dark for 24 hours, nor daylight for the same, except for a relatively short time for each, in the extreme north each year. And the aurora can be, and is a 'showoff'!
