Yellowstone sure has lots of interesting things. From the animals, to the thermal features, even the little things that help make up the big picture! I hope these encourage you to look closer at the little things when you are there.

This hot spring is located very close to the road. Many, many cars drive right by it, but very few stop to see it's unique beauty. I will give its name in a response...

And each color represents a different bacteria growing at a different temperature!
A very interesting and creative set.
Something for everybody in that magical place!
BTW, Firehole Lake Drive is now closed to traffic due to thermals damaging the road. You can still hike it.
Great downloads!
Stay on the trail or you may disappear .

Quite true! They are thermophilic bacteria. It is very surprising (to me) how how high the temperature can go for them to live in it!

Glad you found them interesting! Sometimes it is good to take a little closer look. I wanted to present something different from the 'usual' Yellowstone photos... but I have those too, lol.

Thanks for the info! Very few visitors go there...
We drove that road during our visit last year, and found it VERY interesting! Loved how that one hot spring/geyser (Firehole Spring) just kept sending up bursts of 'bubbles' (steam) Some made it to the top, most simply disappeared before reaching the surface!

Thanks for your approval! It is worth exploring 'off the beaten path'!

Surprising that some simply ignore the warnings! And some pay the hefty price!
